Insomnia,
you will find....is all in the mind....of course...but what is it's source?....the cause of the sleepless effect?........& what is the cure to get a good nights sleep for sure ?....there are several probable causes .....such as unresolved issues surfacing from consciousness deep, a festering problem that needs to be solved that keeps you from getting sleep....which, more often than not....it is the result of resentful thought.....meaning that, the trepidation of something that is going to happen, or the resentment of a memory of what has already transpired, is stuck in your head because of things you said or should have said....or things were done that should not have been done....or maybe battles were lost that should have been won....so the past replays over & over in your mind...keeping your thoughts spinning so you cant unwind....then frustration & anger kicks in....because you have to work tomorrow & you want to go to bed.....so you try to get control of your head...this is where things tend to get worse...you get even more wound up as if under a curse....why?...because your ego got even more involved as it often does when there's a problem that needs to be solved...the trick to not to "try"....take your will out of the equation....just relax as best as you can and watch your thoughts go by....you cant stop them so don't even try....what your doing here is shifting into "meditation mode".....it's the most effective way to short circuit your anxiety before you "implode"....insomnia is quite common & nothing to fear....it's peoples overreaction to it that creates the problems...some get so wound up they get a " Panic attack" & start to hyperventilate...to the point of having heart attacks....of course if things get that "out of control"....go ahead & take something if you absolutely have to...but if you handle it right...you should get a decent sleep for the rest of the night...the point is to not to put up a fight ....forgive & forget & let go of the past & you will get some sleep at last...more or less just go with the flow....maybe just get out of bed.....get something to eat, some exercise or work on the computer or read to clear your head....& it wont be long before your catching your z's as easy as you please....there is another probable cause for fluctuations in sleeping patterns....it might be the reflection of fluctuations in brainwave patterns due to expanding awareness....as you progress in consciousness....you'll find yourself sleeping less... & waking up in the middle of the night to profound realizations...this is the side of insomnia few are aware of....but in fact...this is not insomnia as you know it any more....for it's cause is at the other end of the conscious spectrum...& it's effect is opposite as well...instead of becoming panicky, anxious & resentful....you are calm, relaxed, yet very aware...then, without effort on your part...something is resolved within the heart....or a secret is revealed that formerly was sealed...or a sudden epiphany solves a long standing mystery.....these late night "soul sessions" are actually a blessed event....not something you would want to prevent....for it is your understanding in the act of expanding......generally speaking, insomnia is a symptom of a consciousness in catharsis....& the way you react to it....that is to say your attitude....will decide if the experience will be a pleasant productive one or an unpleasant destructive one...some people RESENT the insomnia experience so much....that they overreact to it...to the point of getting very angry...which of course makes it worse....their resentment of the experience causes them to fear it...which is what triggers the next "episode"....laying in bed out of the blue they will get gripped with a dread, then a surge of adrenaline will shoot through their head......some go to the hospital, their doctor, or seek psychiatric help...which ends up making a big problem out of a little one...for many get addicted to whatever they prescribe....just meditate instead of medicate....& take it in stride, don't get too worked up inside....& before you know....it's off to sleep you go....
